Dishcoverie is operated from Ontario, Canada and may be accessed or used by people in Canada, the United States, and elsewhere. By using Dishcoverie or submitting information to us, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

When you visit the public website or use the app, we may receive standard technical information such as browser type, device information, operating system, pages or screens viewed, referring pages, approximate location derived from network information, IP address, timestamps, crash data, diagnostic data, and similar usage or device information.

When you create or use an account, we may collect account and profile information such as username, display name, email address, avatar, profile details, city or market, badges, creator status, Foodie Pro status, social handles, connected-account status, preferences, and settings.

When you submit a Foodie Pro early-access application, we collect the information you provide, such as requested creator handle, creator or display name, contact email, city or market, social handles, content types, application notes, and related review information.

When you submit, upload, rate, review, recommend, save, report, or otherwise interact with Dishcoverie content, we may collect photos, images, videos, video links, reviews, ratings, comments, recommendations, Try List activity, flags, reports, restaurant or dish information, pricing information, usernames, attribution, timestamps, and related metadata.

If location-based features are used, we may collect or process location-related information, such as the city or market you select, approximate location from network or device data, precise or approximate location you choose to provide through device permissions, location context used for app features, moderation, fraud prevention, safety, ranking relevance, local discovery, distance labels, or restaurant matching.

We may receive information from third-party platforms or services you choose to use or connect, such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Google, app stores, payment processors, hosting providers, analytics providers, maps providers, authentication providers, or other services used to operate, secure, promote, or improve Dishcoverie.

How we use information

We use personal information to operate, provide, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, improve, personalize, promote, and develop Dishcoverie and related websites, apps, forms, demos, creator programs, city launch efforts, public discovery surfaces, and app features.

We use account, profile, submission, rating, review, recommendation, and location-related information to provide core product features, including dish and drink discovery, Hype Lists, public pages, profiles, creator features, Foodie Pro features, city/category pages, moderation workflows, ranking relevance, search, maps or directions links, and local discovery.

We use Foodie Pro application information to review applications, communicate with applicants, assess creator fit, prevent duplicate or abusive submissions, protect requested creator handles, manage creator-handle reservations, and prepare onboarding or launch communications.

We may use submitted content, photos, videos, ratings, reviews, recommendations, usernames, creator status, profile information, badges, attribution, and related metadata to display, rank, promote, market, advertise, and explain Dishcoverie and its related products and services, in accordance with our Terms of Service.

We may use technical, usage, diagnostic, security, and analytics information to understand performance, improve user experience, detect abuse, prevent fraud, protect security, enforce terms, debug issues, maintain reliability, and measure marketing or product effectiveness.

If paid services are introduced, we and our payment processors may collect and process payment, billing, transaction, tax, invoice, subscription-status, renewal, cancellation, and customer-support information. Dishcoverie does not intend to store full payment card numbers on its own servers.

We do not sell personal information to advertisers. We may use submitted content and related attribution to advertise or promote Dishcoverie itself, as described in this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.

User content, photos, videos, and advertising use

If you submit photos, videos, reviews, ratings, recommendations, profile information, social handles, usernames, captions, or other content to Dishcoverie, that content may be displayed publicly and may be used by Dishcoverie to operate, improve, promote, market, and advertise Dishcoverie and related products and services, subject to our Terms of Service.

You should only submit content that you own or have permission to submit and allow Dishcoverie to use. Do not submit photos, videos, music, images, likenesses, personal information, copyrighted works, or other material if you do not have the necessary rights, permissions, or consents.

Dishcoverie may retain records of submissions, moderation decisions, reports, account actions, abuse-prevention signals, and related metadata to protect public trust, enforce rights, prevent abuse, maintain ranking integrity, resolve disputes, and comply with legal or business obligations.

How information may be disclosed

Public content and profile information you submit for public-facing features may be visible to other users, website visitors, app users, creators, restaurants, search engines, social platforms, partners, or the general public, depending on the feature and moderation status.

We may disclose information to service providers who help us host, operate, secure, analyze, moderate, store, transmit, communicate, process payments, authenticate users, provide maps or location-related functionality, develop, or improve Dishcoverie. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to Dishcoverie or as otherwise permitted by law.

We may disclose information where required or permitted by law, including to respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms, protect rights, safety, security, or property, investigate fraud or abuse, defend legal claims, or complete a business transaction such as a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.

Your browser or device may allow you to block, limit, reset, or revoke certain technologies or permissions, but some features may not work properly if you do so.

Third-party services have their own privacy policies and practices. Dishcoverie is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content, availability, fees, or policies of third-party services.

International storage and processing

Dishcoverie may use service providers, infrastructure, or personnel located in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions. As a result, personal information may be stored, processed, accessed, or disclosed outside your province, state, or country of residence, where it may be subject to different laws.

We use service providers and safeguards intended to protect personal information, but no cross-border transfer, service provider, website, app, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Retention

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to operate Dishcoverie, maintain accounts, review applications, manage creator-handle reservations, display public content, preserve moderation and abuse-prevention records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and keep business records.

We may retain certain information after an account, application, subscription, or item of content is deleted, rejected, removed, or closed where reasonably necessary for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, audit, dispute-resolution, moderation, backup, accounting, tax, or legitimate business purposes.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, loss, or alteration. No website, app, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for using Dishcoverie safely, protecting your own accounts and devices, using strong authentication practices where available, and avoiding submission of information you do not want processed or displayed according to this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can choose not to submit optional information, not to connect third-party accounts, not to enable optional location permissions, or not to submit a Foodie Pro application. Some features may be unavailable or limited if you do not provide certain information.

To request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or other privacy assistance, email admin@dishcoverie.com. We may need to verify your identity and understand the context of your request before acting on it.

Withdrawal of consent may limit or prevent your ability to use certain features, and it may not affect processing that already occurred or processing permitted or required by law. We may deny or limit requests where permitted by law, including where retention is needed for security, legal, moderation, fraud-prevention, accounting, dispute, or legitimate business purposes.

Residents of certain jurisdictions may have additional privacy rights. If you believe additional rights apply to you, contact us and identify your jurisdiction and request.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it as required by law.
